Choose a quiz

Open the Quiz tab and choose Training or Challenge. Expand a quiz to read its description, then select it to see its available level and options. The information icon on a quiz explains what it is for.

If prompted, choose an area in Settings. An area helps ChirpQuiz show species relevant to you. You can also choose a season, All includes species across seasons.

Answer a question

1. Listen to the bird recording. Tap the bird image to pause or resume playback.
2. Choose the species from the four answer buttons, or—if Expert mode is on—search for it in the list of birds available in that quiz.
3. In Training, a wrong answer does not end the question. Try again, the image may reveal more as you make mistakes, depending on your image setting.
4. When the answer is revealed, continue to the next question. You can choose automatic or manual advancement in Settings.

In Training, press and hold an answer after the question is answered to see a short Wikipedia summary when one is available.

If a question will not load

Quiz recordings are fetched from Xeno-canto, so check your internet connection and media volume. If playback reports an error, use the reload option shown in the quiz.
