Settings and Bird Information
Area and season
Choose an area on the map in Settings to focus area-based quizzes on local birds. Choose a season to limit the selection to species present in that season, or choose All. If you want to remove the area filter, use the location reset option.
Changing the area or season can change the birds and levels available in quizzes. Some classification groups may disappear when they do not have enough eligible species.
Images in quizzes
Choose when to show bird images:
- Always shows the image from the start in Training.
- Gradually reveals more after mistakes.
- Never keeps the quiz focused on listening.
Playback and questions
- Next question can advance automatically or wait for you to continue.
- Audio normalization adjusts playback loudness to make recordings easier to compare.
- Use your device's media volume if a recording is too quiet.
Languages
The app language controls menus and messages. The bird language controls bird names and the language used when looking up bird information. If a translated bird name is not available, the app may use the English bird page instead.
Search and bird details
Use Search to look up birds by common or scientific name. In Area follows your current area and season, All Birds searches the full bird database, and My Lists lets you create quiz lists and check each bird's learning status. A bird's detail page can show a Wikipedia summary and image, Xeno-canto recordings, and links to other reference resources when available and online.
Bird distribution information and the OpenStreetMap map are included in the app and are available offline. Recordings, Wikipedia summaries, and some other reference information are loaded online.
The app's information and credits area links to the source projects and provides developer contact and review options.
