ChirpQuiz

ChirpQuiz is a free, ad-free app for learning to identify more than 8,000 bird species by their calls. I developed it to combine listening quizzes with tools for targeted practice.

Quiz and learning features

  • Five quiz types: explore birds by area, observation frequency, scientific classification, personal lists, or learning status.
  • Two ways to play: use Training to practice at your own pace, or Challenge to test your knowledge with three lives and a score.
  • Expert mode and adjustable difficulty: select an answer from all birds in the current quiz, or use four choices with configurable answer similarity and other difficulty settings.
  • Learning progress: Training is optimized for learning. Each bird's learning status is available in the My Lists tab.
  • Bird information and maps: consult species information and distribution data on a map. Distribution data and the OpenStreetMap map are included in the app and available offline.

See the user guide for details about quiz types, quiz modes, difficulty, and learning progress.
